Bynet increases: the technical administrator of the national domain zone sums up the work of .BY and .БЕЛ in 2025

The technical administrator of the national domain zones .BY and .БЕЛ reports on the results of the work of the national domain zone in 2025:

The number of registered .BY domains has exceeded 138,000 names. Together with the Cyrillic zone .БЕЛ, almost 154,000 second-level domains are registered in Belarus today. In December 2024, there were 148,587 names in the domain zone registry; as we can see, there was a jump over the year, and the upward trend continues.

Last February, the .БЕЛ domain zone celebrated its tenth anniversary. The domain was created during a growing trend of assigning domains in national languages around the world, creating the opportunity to use online resources in one's native language.

Today, the .БЕЛ domain zone registry lists 15,456 names (exactly one year ago, the registry listed 15,001 names). For the period from December 1 to December 31, 2025, 2,225 new domains were registered in the .БЕЛ domain zone.

The Cyrillic domain zone. БЕЛ is unique – it supports the Belarusian letter "Ў" the Belarusian letter "i" and apostrophes. Therefore, for convenience, names can be created in both Russian and Belarusian.

In mid-summer, the technical administrator celebrated a milestone in the development of the national domain zone: the total number of .BY and .БЕЛ websites exceeded 150,000 names.

In 2025, 25,887 new second-level domains were registered, including 23,662 in the .BY domain zone. And here we see growth: the same period in 2024 saw 24,218 domains registered.

Most Belarusian websites use national domains. They are trusted by visitors and contribute significantly to website promotion.

One of the key advantages of the .BY domain is security. In Belarus, as elsewhere in the world, cybercrime is rapidly growing, but criminals rarely use domains in the .BY zone.

Minsk and the Minsk region traditionally lead the way among regional capitals in terms of the number of registered domains.

The most active months for domain name registration in 2025 were:

• July (1930 in the .BY zone and 398 in the .БЕЛ zone),
• October (2095 in the .BY zone and 175 in the .БЕЛ zone),
• December (2080 in the .BY zone and 176 in the .БЕЛ zone).

Non-residents of the Republic of Belarus are also among those registering domains on the Bynet. As of the end of 2025, 12,587 domain names were registered to non-residents, representing 119 countries.

Charity Auctions

From January 1 to December 31, 2025, 10 stages of the charity auction were held. As a result, 646 domain names were registered, including 607 in the .BY zone and 39 in the .БЕЛ zone.

The practice of domain auctions is widespread worldwide, but in our country, the proceeds go not to registrars, but to charitable causes. The beneficiaries are orphanages across the country.

Each auction was marked by ‘’bright”, memorable domain names, the price of which generated a significant amount of financial support for the charity.

In 2025, based on the results of auctions, approximately 180,000 Belarusian rubles were transferred as donations to the charitable accounts of institutions that provide living conditions and support for orphans, children without parental care, disabled children, and children with special needs.
